Matthew 6:25 - Do Not Worry

What Does Matthew 6:25 Mean?

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" (Matthew 6:25, NIV)

Anxiety is everywhere right now. Rent, career, relationships, social media pressure. It's a lot. And Jesus knew His followers would feel the weight of it all, which is why He spoke these words directly during the Sermon on the Mount.

He's not saying "don't plan ahead" or "be reckless." He's saying stop letting worry run your life. God feeds the birds. He clothes the fields in wildflowers. You matter more to Him than any of that. So why are you losing sleep?

This is one of those verses you need on repeat. Not because hearing it once fixes everything, but because anxiety is persistent, and you need something stronger to push back against it. Matthew 6:25 is that reminder: your Father already knows what you need.

It's also kind of ironic. Jesus says don't worry about what you'll wear, and here we are putting the verse on clothing. But that's the point. Every time you throw on this piece, it's a reset. A physical reminder to let go and trust.
