2 Corinthians 5:7 — Faith Driven
What Does 2 Corinthians 5:7 Mean?
"For we live by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7, NIV)
Seven words. Paul could have written a long argument for trusting God in the dark. Instead, he wrote a sentence that fits on a tee. We walk by faith, not by sight. That is the whole Christian life in one line.
The temptation, of course, is to walk by sight. To make decisions based on what we can see, count, prove, predict. To wait until the path is well-lit before taking the step. The verse describes a different way of moving through the world — one where faith does the steering even when sight has not caught up yet.
It is not a call to recklessness. It is a call to trust. Faith is not making things up; it is responding to a God who has spoken even when we cannot yet see the answer. Abraham walked by faith out of Ur not knowing where he was going. Moses walked by faith into Pharaoh's court. Peter walked by faith out onto the water. Every story in scripture is some version of this verse.
"Faith Driven" describes the kind of believer the verse is talking about. Someone who refuses to outsource their decisions to what is visible. Someone who lets faith lead, and lets sight catch up later. The collection is for believers who are tired of pretending they have the map.
